A Mother’s Love

"God could not be everywhere, and therefore he made mothers."

~ Rudyard Kipling

There are a lot of expectations in this world of Social Media posts to be perfect. In everything. The truth is there is no such thing as perfection. As much as you see smiling faces, perfectly dressed kids and flawless makeup on the social media feeds of those in the limelight and non-celebrities alike, we have a to take a breath and remember that is not what every moment in their lives look like. In fact, most likely those moments are fleeting.

When considering how to celebrate the bond you share with your Mum, think about the little things. Because, to be honest, for most of them, it is the little things that carry the most weight. Here are three ideas that will put stars in her eyes without creating a black hole in your wallet.

1. Make her a meal! As kids, Mother’s Day often means making breakfast for Mum. Why not bring that to the present day and make her a meal. The love and care you put into the meal (plus not having to cook) is sure to put a smile on her face!

2. Create a work of art! When kids bring home art from school, it brings a smile to their mother’s face. Wouldn’t it be fun to create a work of art for her? And please, don’t be hard on yourself – remember the finger paintings she used to hang on the fridge? She will love it because it was made by you!

3. Re-create a favourite photograph from your childhood. We all have pictures from our childhood that make our parents smile. Why not re-create one of them as adults and frame the two of them (past and present) together.

Go on and remember your childhood this Mother’s Day. I’m sure Mum will appreciate a trip down memory lane too.
